compare and contrast
In which the author makes a few observations about media she is enjoying now and has enjoyed in the past.
- Television: The West Wing is a Democrat/liberal TV fantasy of government. 24 is a Republican/conservative TV fantasy of government. I love 24 (action adventure soap opera!), though I find it incredibly absurd, but we just started watching The West Wing (90210 crossed with an afterschool special and McNeil/Lehrer!), and I’m eating it up.
- Weight loss books: The Skinny is the femme version of The Hacker’s Diet. I like The Skinny’s emphasis on enjoying the food you eat, since that’s part of what’s been working for me, but I prefer the math-heavy aspects of The Hacker’s Diet. I suppose that makes me a femme nerd. I’ll take that.
