item the second

in which the author reflects on the various aspects of a protesting experience.

Being involved with this Ralph’s Thiftway boycott/protest is amazing!  Tonight was my third evening in a row of standing out on the sidewalk with a sign and buttons, waving and cheering at people honking.  No pictures tonight, as the camera went back to Sony today for repair.

And on the one hand, it’s nice to be part of the crowd, just one of the folks holding a sign, smiling into the sun. (with shades, hat & sunscreen)
And on the other hand, I’m damn proud of my work on that site, and I love being appreciated for it.  It’s not that it was hard to set up (yay wordpress! yay dreamhost pre-installed themes!), but I’m being fast and responsive, and people use it.  The gal who is leading the protest is just totally effusive, and I want to just shrug and say it’s not a big deal, but hey, it is kind of a big deal.

Like I said before, I’m not much of a joiner or much of a protester, but this has been a great experience so far.
