I’ve been watching a lot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer today, and I had a random thought while listening from the kitchen….

one of the central conceits of the show is that Buffy’s identity as the slayer must be kept secret – that the more people know, the more they are in danger. is this necessarily so? (there’s a much deeper thought hiding somewhere in my head, something about the Internet and networks of information, something about Giles and the library vs. the computer teacher (name?) and the ‘net.)
